Microbrews

People all over the world drink beer, and this is one of the reasons that microbrews & microbreweries are so popular in many areas. Those in the United Kingdom began using the term in the 1970’s to refer to small breweries that focused on making cask ale. In the United States, microbrews & microbreweries refer to brewers producing less than 15,000 barrels of beer per year. These terms that once meant the size of breweries now refer more to originality, customer service, and flexible brewing. Some microbrews are manufactured in a microbrewery right next to the bar that serves these unique brews.

Microbrews & microbreweries are very popular around the world, and in the United States, there are microbreweries in every state. Microbrews are also called boutique breweries or brew pubs. One of the reasons for their popularity is that microbrews give beer drinkers many choices of beers. Before the boom in the microbrew scene beer lovers often needed to be part of a Beer of the Month club to get the variety they needed.  Large manufacturers that were once popular could only produce a few varieties of beer, but today’s microbreweries brew hundreds of kinds of beer. For example Seattle, WA and Portland, Oregon, both located in Northwest United States each have over 40 microbreweries.  The surrounding areas also boast of many wineries, cooking schools, and terrific seafood.

MicroBrews If a beer drinker is new to microbrews, it is a good idea to start with a light beer and move to darker ones because beers have different flavors and alcohol content. There are beer festivals around the United States where microbreweries gather to feature their best beers, and they are becoming more popular and frequent each year. This is a great place to try several different kinds to find out which ones are the best for you.

Drinking beer is actually healthy when it is consumed in small quantities, such as one drink for women and two drinks for men. Research has shown that beer drinkers actually have a 30% to 40% lower coronary heart disease. This is due to the vitamin B6 in beer that stops the accumulation of homocysteine, an amino acid linked to heart disease and atherosclerosis. In Russia, beer is second only to vodka, and it is regarded as a healthy beverage, as it is in other parts of the world.

If you are looking for an interesting gift, you may want to consider the Beer of the Month Club, featuring microbrewed beers that any beer fan would love. For only $35, 12 bottles of microbrew will be sent to the beer fan each month. There are 4 types of microbrew to try. Also, if a beer lover tries a microbrew in a bar attached to a microbrewery, there is a good chance that the person will be able to buy beer to take home. If you know someone that isn’t a beer fan, a great gift for a wine lover would be a custom wine cellar in their home.

Beer drinking is a way of life for many people. College students see how much they can drink, and sports fans love a cold beer while they watch a football or soccer game. Now, with microbrews being so unique and different from a regular can or bottle of beer, microbrews have become the newly designed pub or bar for younger crowds. Not only are the beers interesting to try and a conversation piece with others around you, but the bars are lively spots to visit. One of the microbrew bars has a fun time when everyone shouts, “The train is coming!” This means that it is time for microbrews to go on special as the railroad gates come down over the road. Other pubs and bars have similar and exciting times for all of their guests. Fortunately, the brews are still reasonably priced and easy to find. Microbrews are not just a trend that will go away, they have been around for a long while and they keep getting more and more popular. If you have not tried microbrew yet, you have a grand new adventure ahead of you.
